Eligibility Conditions for Technical Branch - 201/17T/PC/M, 201/17T/SSC/M & W


As eligibility conditions for the Technical Branch of AFCAT ( Air For Common Admission Test), you have to fulfill the below conditions. these conditions include the prescribed age limit, educational qualifications, physical fitness,medical conditions.




AFCAT Technical Branch Age Limit : 

To apply for AFCAT Technical branch recruitment, your age should be between 20 to 26 years as on 01 July 2017 i.e. you should born between 02 July 1991 to 01 July 1997 (both dates inclusive).




Educational Qualifications :


(i) Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE (L)} :

To be a part of Technical Branch of IAF through AFCAT you should be a graduate of four year graduation / integrated post- graduation qualification in Engineering / Technology from recognised University. minimum 60% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of


or you can also apply if cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines:-



  • Communication Engineering
  • Computer Engineering / Technology
  • Computer Engineering & Application
  • Computer Science and Engineering / Technology
  • Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics Engineering / Technology
  • Electronics Science and Engineering
  • Electronics
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering
  • Electronics and Computer Science
  • Electronics and / or Telecommunication Engineering
  • Electronics and / or Telecommunication Engineering (Microwave)
  • Electronics and Computer Engineering
  • Electronics Communication and Instrumentation Engineering
  • Electronics Instrument & Control
  • Electronics Instrument & Control Engineering
  • Instrumentation & Control Engineering
  • Instrument & Control Engineering
  • Information Technology.

ii) Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) {AE (M)} :

You can apply for AFCAT Technical Branch if you have minimum 60% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four year graduation  or integrated post- graduation qualification in Engineering or Technology from recognised University.


 or if you have cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines:-


  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Aeronautical Engineering
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering and Automation
  • Mechanical Engineering (Production)
  • Mechanical Engineering (Repair and Maintenance
  •  Mechatronics 
  •  Industrial Engineering.



Physical Standards :

For AFCAT Technical Branch, your physical standard shoud be as follows -

Minimum height:- Men -157.5 Cms, Women:-152 Cms with correlated weight .




Medical Criteria :

All other medical criteria would be evaluated by the Air Force Medical Authorities whose decision on the fitness would be final. 4.
